So Long, Farewell

I have had some wonderful times on this blog, but like my significant other, I am moving on to Tumblr. The Blackberry application won me over. Plus I could import all my old blog posts and use my adorable background. All winners in my book.

So follow me on Tumblr.

Happy Columbus day

Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492.

And now half of America has the day off.

But I dont. I am stuck in a sauna of a class room with it being so hot you want to jump out the window to escape.

But enjoy your day off if you have it.

If not, giggle at this picture.

Vote for my Blogger for Blackberry idea!

http://productideas.appspot.com/#8/e=e828

Its been a while, so I feel like I need to update you all

  • THE MPRE: I have been studying for that a lot lately. My goal is to get through the lecture and do a practice test or two. BTW, the MPRE is November 6th. Kinda far and at 9 am! Ew. I still have a little less than a month to do my studying.
  • MY LONG RESEARCH PAPER: I have gotten as far as a handwritten outline. It has cases and a basic set of "here is what I want to explore." I also need to get on top of that soon. Specifically before the semester is up. I promise I will focus more on it when I have my MPRE done.
  • MY COMPUTER: It is dying. It turns off randomly, Sony thinks it is because they have a defective fan installed on it. So they are allegedly coming to fix it soon. Huzzah! Hopefully that will make it better. For now I have a bag of frozen peas on my lap, with my laptop on top of them.
  • MY HAIR: I have found a favorite shampoo. Well at least for now. Organix Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner. Yum it smells good. And I normally dont like the smell of coconut. But this is nice. Plus my hair looks FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! Yay!
  • HALLOWEEN: I have no holiday post for now,  but I did make sugar cookies. Pumpkin and ghost cutouts! With some pumpkin seasoning. Yum! They tasted good and the Pillsbury can of icing was the best tool ever.  It made frosting the cookies a breeze!
  • HALLOWEEN COSTUMES:  The tax attorney and I still havent decided on a costume outfit. We are running low on time and we need either (a) suggestions or (b) some sort of inspiration. Keep in mind last year we were Jack and Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas. Yeah. Hard to top that!
  • BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: My favorite Disney movie ever came out on DVD and BluRay. Guess who bought it for me? And got to listen to me sing the songs? Yup. The tax attorney. Best boyfriend ever? Hells yeah.
  • WORK: So far going really well. I got to write a reply brief for a brief I wrote before I left for the summer. It was a blast. And I banged it out in 3 hours. Woot! I know I know, more experienced attorneys can do it in less time, but I am super cool and young. Cut me slack.
  • SCHOOL: I still love my Crim Trial Ad class. Wills is still ok. BA is killing me and 1st Amendment could be so much more interesting. Oh well.
  • THE TAX ATTORNEY: No changes. We are still dating and still happy. I think.
Thats all I can think of. Oh! I joined My Blog Spark on the suggestion of a friend. They send you things to review and give away. So plan on having some prizes for you, my loyal readers (hahaha. Wow. That sounded ridiculous) in the coming future.

Easy Peasy Pumpkin Pie

I love pumpkin pie. I love the taste, the smell, the warm pie and cool whipped cream. Yum. Being one of my favorite foods, I figured I can share with you all an easy pumpkin pie recipe that ANYONE can do!

Being easy, there is some cheating.

You will need the following:

  • Premade pie crust
  • 1 can of Pumpkin filling (about 2 cups) (in a can if you are lazy or you can make your own)
  • 1 Cup of Heavy Cream
  • 3/4 Cup of Milk (I use 2% or skim, lots of others use whole)
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Allspice
  • Vanilla
  • Ginger
  • 3/4 Cup of PACKED BROWN sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 large eggs (if you want a thick pie, 3 if you want a more custard like one)
  • A little bit of melted butter
How to make it!
  1. Preheat your oven to a warm 375 degrees.
  2. Mix your eggs well in a bowl
  3. Add Pumpkin filling, Heavy Cream, Milk, BROWN sugar, and eggs. Add spices to flavor (I love my pie full of spice, so I try to mix a little of each until it is about 1 Tablespoon of spice).
  4. If you need numbers for the spices, you can try this: 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp ginger, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp allspice.
  5. Add a pinch of salt (lots of people dont do this, but salt makes EVERYTHING taste better)
  6. Mix it up well. It will be watery. It's ok.
  7. Use your premade pie crust and put it into a 10inch pie dish. Decorate the sides of the crust with a fork or pie cutter or your finger. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE poke a few small holes in the pie crust with your fork. I promise better results!
  8. For those that like the pretty golden crust, brush a little melted butter on the parts of the crust showing.
  9. Pour in the pumpkin mix. SLOWLY.
  10. Bake for about 45-50 minutes. OR until the filling is mostly set, but still wiggles a little when you move it.
  11. Cool the pie and pop it in the fridge.
It's easy enough! And its SO good with some whipped cream. Yum.

The Great Rain, Stub, and Window Clings!

It is raining like a mofo. It's been raining ALL DAY and the puddles are actually secret lakes that may or may not be deceptively deep. And this may or may not have lead yours truly into walking into said deceptive puddle. And getting soaked to the knees. Regardless of the rainboots.

And off to work I went, where I picked up some papers and headed to various courts. After rushing around court 1, I head to court 2 (which is a BIT more sketchy than court 1 with my pants still soaked. I was glared at and given the creepy up down looks by random sketchballs. And then I run into my Crim Trial Ad prof.

*sigh*

One of his first comments was if I crossed a river to get to court. No. I didnt. After some mindless chatter, we parted ways and I filed the remainder of my papers.

Ps. It is still raining.

----------------------------------------------
Stub visited this week. After a Bears victory (SUCK IT PACKERS FANS AND TAX ATTORNEY) and then going out on Tuesday with Stub I was ready to pass out on Wedn.

But onto Stub and his visit.

We drank. We discussed everything and anything. And at some point I did something and I ended up with a bruise on my back. I got skills.

But after all the drinks and the laughter, it came down to this. I missed him. It was so great to see him and to spend some time with someone, who even now can make me think I am in undergrad. All that was missing is my bar in undergrad.

-----------------------------------------------
Onto easy breezy Halloween stuff.

Window Clings

I love them. I have a small apartment with LOTS of windows so clearly one of the easiest ways to decorate my apartment. And they can stick to mirrors! So using my super easy method I have used the following clings (ps this web sight is the BEST for decorations!) which have to be clicked on bc they wont let me post pictures!

http://www.partycheap.com/Spider_and_Web_Clings_Window_Clings_14_sheet_p/01034.htm

http://www.partycheap.com/Halloween_Character_Clings_25_sheet_p/01131.htm

Combined they lead to a cool end result!

One window pane is goofy and the next creepy.

I was too lazy to get up and take a proper picture. Oh well.
